Let the Last Word Be “Whatev”

In recent social groups, we’ve been talking about how the need to have the last word increases conflict to flammable levels. I’ll watch two kids vying for that last word like dogs fighting over a bone.

Today’s very simple tip. If you have a child who absolutely fights for that last word to the detriment of developing friendships, you can teach him or her to make that last word, “whatev.” Add a shoulder shrug, and you’ve just completely extinguished a conflict.
